It’s Thursday, and soooooo unusual for me to not have posted this week by now. I’ve come to the conclusion that I have avoided writing because I am still in shock and somewhat in denial of the passing of Whitney Houston. Saturday evening I was sitting around with my sisters watching TV, and CNN pops on the screen and announces “Whitney Houston is Dead at 48.” My mouth dropped open, I fell silent, and I could not get my thoughts together. We sat there and watched the rest of the news, and when I went home that night it still didn’t feel real to me. Whitney Houston is dead????? How can this be????
My blog serves as a platform for me to express myself and communicate my brand’s message which is to empower women. Today it will serve as a way for me to pay my final respects to a singer I really admired. Whitney is special to me because when I was younger I wanted to be a singer. My family has always been religious, so we didn’t listen to secular music often. I remember Whitney’s voice being so pure and classic that when her songs came on the radio, the fact that she was secular artist almost didn’t matter. She had such a beautiful tone, and I even learned one of her songs for a recital when I was kid. Continue reading →
